What To Expect Tesla has a regional opportunity for a skilled Design Manager to join our dynamic Infrastructure Development team. The Design Manager will oversee the design and permitting phases of new Sales, Service, Delivery, and Collision Facilities. We seek self-motivated professionals proficient in Revit to drive projects. The role will be regionally based in the Mid-Atlantic/Southeast area. What You'll Do Oversee and execute the design development process—from test fit, concept design, survey and due diligence management, to issuing for bid (IFB) and construction (IFC) packages with external consultants. Coordinate stakeholder needs and translate them into concept drawings based on site-specific conditions. Manage site survey and due diligence processes, including assessments of utilities, structural conditions, vehicle access, and property conditions. Lead site walks and stakeholder discussions to align scope, identify cost drivers, and provide innovative design solutions to retrofit buildings to Tesla standards. Manage schedules for surveys, drawings, and permits with internal and external partners, ensuring alignment with milestones. Produce design documents, presentations, and details. Lead the permitting phase, including pre-application meetings with authorities, entitlements, approvals, rezoning, and permits. Review construction documents and RFIs to ensure design intent is met. Understand and communicate work letters to consultants. Demonstrate agility to handle multiple projects effectively. Perform zoning checks and have general knowledge of building codes; experience with entitlements is preferred. What You'll Bring Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or equivalent experience. 5-7 years of experience in retail, commercial, or industrial infrastructure. Experience in design management or architectural firms preferred. Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and 3D SketchUp. Effective communication skills—verbal, written, and visual. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing utilities coordination. Excellent time management, attention to detail, and results-driven mindset in a fast-paced environment.
